uh f*rk...

there goes a long story of how well ubuntu can perform over winXP, well, indeed in my case, ubuntu did give me a better performance in overall, graphic wise it still lost to vista.

so the semester begins and my days of school continues, after a week break, seems like in 3 more weeks the course will be finish and i will be on my way to the finals..(omg fyp fyp!). before this semester start, i have just install ubuntu hardy after a few fail trails with kde4 (kubuntu), for few weeks ubuntu seems fine, it comes with the basic that you will need for your everyday life. A movie player that can play both movie and audio, office for your spreadsheet, documents and presentation needs, graphic editing software for you if you are going to scan and edit and images, pidgin messenger client for a few of your messaging accounts, and a few more accessories and games for you to play with when you are bored. To sum up, ubuntu is like an all in package for anyone.

No doubt it serve me all i need at first until day before yesterday that i am required to cough out a 90seconds audio clip for tutorial. Hard? Not really, i came out with the script within 1 hr after class, meet up with my coursemate and pass her the script and give her a few instruction for her to practice at home, job done for day 1 that is.
The second day was a holiday, so we meet up and record the track, 70seconds of vocal is sufficient and i went home to begin the editing. Sat in front of my desktop, i wonder what program i can use to edit. the most friendly seems to be audacity, which is available on sourceforge. Dig in to audacity and everything was up within an hour.

Audacity in linux has the same interface in xp, so without any problem i was finishing it after 3 hours, out of the blue when i split a track to mono, audacity frost and went suicidal with all my unsaved work, f*rk, there goes everything. without giving much thought of it, i continue, redo every bits and pieces, another 2 hours passes by and its 2 in the morning. Right before i can compile everything, the screen darkens. there come my thought saying " hey buddy, i'ave a good news and a bad news for you, which would you like first ". There my eyes started to rain, i choose the good news. "the good news, you can sleep early tonight and forget about everything, great huh, guess whats the bad news, the track is f*cked, good night and sleep tight."

The next day i woke up, with a sore throat, looking at audacity, shaking my head and look for alternative to edit the track. i can choose to use either soundforge or other stuff that i never hear of. Surfing on the net, i stop by a post: ubuntustudio. An OS that is made for the editing in a linux based system.

Well, that serve me good enough, seeing that i will have to do a couple more of editing work before i finish this semester i download it through the command line.
-sudo apt-get install ubuntustudio*
within 6 hours, the installation is complete, and is required a reboot, reboot it is then. Beep, the computer goes and in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, the screen flashes, a error came out that the system did not detect any graphic driver. p*wned for a second, i know somehow, this semester wont be easy for me. All i know is i need to get in to the operating system, at least somehow without audio editing i still can get other work done.

Time flies, with some orange juice and 2 burger. I did all i could to get myself back in to the system, f*rk now with a thread in ubuntu forum waiting people to safe my arse off the hook.
