To make it simple, in the italian job, Charlie use the water as a fog of war to run away and cover from the police eyes. The italian job was a perfect hit, no blood was seen sprouting here or there and the best part was the cover up that no trail was left other than the stamp of a Balinese dancer on the gold.

The second act of the story was "the betrayal" (of Steve), where Steve pull out a gun and gets all the gold for himself. The second act of the story continues until the track down of Steve by Charlie, where Charlie sworn to get his revenge by stealing back the loot hence pull Stella in to the play as Stella is the only person whom Charlie trust to crack the Steve safe. (and Stella being emotion as Steve killed her father)

The third act of the story was (Stella) "entering the lion's den", Stella accept Charlie proposal, with all preparation ready all left was to get the blueprint of the safe; with Charlie running out of cards, Stella seems to be the last card that Charlie has to get in to Steve's den. The third act ends when Stella mask was recognized by Steve.

The fourth act of the story was "dog fight" (between Steve and Charlie). Steve now know Charlie plans and Charlie know know Steve plans, they now required to draw their card out again to see who last on the top.

Steve cards:
A-lot-of-money (cash).
A tamper proof security system.
Dogs, big dogs.
Armed guards.
Anti-scaling fence.

Charlie cards:
Handsome Rob, who seduce girls and the perfect driver.
Left ear, who plays with explosive.
Lyle, computer genius
Charlie, mastermind who staged the itallian job
Stella, daughter of John
Wrench, mechanic who tune cars

The fourth act ends quickly with Lyle finds out that Steve is trying to move away all his gold. Not known to Charlie, Steve actually prepare 2 decoy trucks to give Charlie a wild goose chase.

With the emergence of the 3 trucks, the final act of "the itallian job" begins. As followed the previous itallian job, the loot is required to drop in to the "water" (fog of war) where it can't be seen by the public, the loot is then carried under the "water" to somewhere safe.

The environment:
1. The safe is being carried on the armored truck.
2. The truck will be running on the busy street.

The set up:
1. Phone lines are being tapped to monitor activity of Steve action.
2. The local traffic authority traffic system is required to be take over by the thief.
3. A hole is required to be placed for the truck to fall in to the "water".
4. The hold is required to be covered to prevent public to see everything beneath the "water".

The operation:
1. The truck is required to move to the design hole.
2. Once the truck is in the hole, the hole is required to be covered.
3. The thieves are required to gather at below the water to carry the loot away from the truck.

The cover up:
1. Passage to the "water" is required to be block to prevent un-foreseen circumstances.

The packing up:
1. The best man to crack the code is required to be prepared to crack the code and complete it in before anyone manage to gets the hole cover open.
2. The loot in the safe is required to be moved to a drop off point where is shall be collected again later.

The get away:
1. All thieves who is able to drive is required to assist in carrying the loot.
2. The thieves is required to move away from the spot and gather again to celebrate or share the loot.

The enjoyment:
1. Meet at a place where there is less people.

As seen, the second itallian job is the same as the first itallian job, but what makes the movie so special?

The gun fire?
There is only 2 person killed in the whole movie, John and Mashkov's cousin (the guy who buy gold from Steve).

The blood and fights?
There is only 2 punches being throw upon, the first is by Charlie on Steve, the second is by Stella on Steve.

The sex and romance?
There is only 1 kissing shot being taken where Charlie kissed Stella forehead after her date with Steve, and only 1 sexy shot of Stella of her wearing a bra after Charlie lock pick in to her room.

So really, what so special? There is indeed when you exclude the fights, blood and sex.
First special, the hole making; they first blow 2 levels of ceiling off to drop a safe box in to the water, then they blow 1 levels of tar paved road off to drop a armored truck in to the tunnel.

Second special, the chase; the chase of time to get 3 mini's in to the tunnel before the train shut their way up.

Third special, the scripts; really, I'm not joking. some that is quoted in imdb.com;

I trust everyone. It's the devil inside them I don't trust.
