Sg. Gabai Tracking

Friday class was the usual ones, we all went  home with our mind exposed that media is so much harder then i think it is. Just like the last Saturday, we enjoy our supper with friends, chill out at the mamak, condemn how bad our lives were, envy those other people who live their lives better then we were and claiming how little we can do to save the others that however does not live a good live like us.

It was 2 in the morning, we have our last sipped on the drinks we ordered, and we talk about how should we improved our camping trip after the one at the sg. tua. I had to admit that the sg. tua camp was a disaster, although we do really not prepare for the fact that there is no ideal campsite available and I am basically lazy to work.

Just like the previous week, we went home and start messaging on where to go, and it ended up with: lets try out another one, whats on the web? gabai falls "To visit the Gabai Falls, first you have to go to Ulu Langat, a small village which can be reached from Cheras or Ampang. ... " and again we are on our trip at 3+ in the morning.

With half sleeping thoughts we have and we are on our way to gabai falls. Stop at the same mamak at batu 9, kill of some time while we pack for our breakfast, have a cup of teh tarik, waiting the factory to ring its bell, and off we were on our track to gabai.

After an hour of driving, it seems we have lost our way, reaches the entrance of G. Nuang, we are partially lost, not totally as its just a single road back to town. Just at the time we noobing around, some locals came out and give us the guidance to sg. gabai.

Hey, its not that hard. All you need to do is just go all the way back from bt. 24 to bt. 18, cross the stone and metal bridge and you will see sign board to gabai. Again we on our track, wondering where is bt. 18 is? Now here is a big problem, how on earth are you going to see road signs when there is none. We drove and drove, up till a point, when I request to stop for a quick release. Going down to the sign, I release all the teh tarik, teh o ice limau that i have in me, look up and there it was, Sg. Gabai Flooding and Weather Alarm System.

A pee safe the day, and yes we are at the entrance of Sg. Gabai which also the entrance of Sg. Lui, the stone and metal bridge which on the way to chongkak you will see a school on the left and alot of shops with cars park just beside the road, the bridge is just at the end of the shops on your right.

We continue our way, pass sg. lui where all the locals leng lui was manufacture after they were dipped in the river.  Getting ourselves lost until we see the familiar sign of Sg. Gabai Recreational Park. The sign is not really big, so you need to focus after you pass about 3 sg. lui and 1 sg. gabai.

The entrance of Gabai falls is just a small trial up hill, with a goat/mutton/milk/ducks/eggs distributor/farm pointing upwards the road, the road is relatively small, keep to the right lane every time you see a junction and eventually you will reach the gabai falls entrance. You will know the entrance when you sees it.

When we reach the entrance its at 6 plus, the stairs up the falls is just right at the parking area, RM 1 to park there for them who clean the place up, much much worth the value than to chongkak, although we only pay the guy when we came down from gabai.

The stairs up the top of the falls, is marvelous. We stop at several platforms to catch our breaths, views of the falls will not be available before 7am. We take our sweet time climb up the stairs, about thousand stairs and we reaches the top of the falls. There will be a washroom, a hall like building, a fire gathering column and a bridge when you reach the top. View not good as on the platform, but worth going up just to bath on the big pool of water on top.

We gather some wood to smoke the bugs out and lay down till the sun is up. Time flies while we have our breakfast, mine for nasi lemak, good source of taste to remind you how helpful sambal is in cold places. By 8am, we start our journey to track up stream to look for campsites.

The first spot during the tracking was a slighter deeper pool with better current than the one just on top of the falls, there is even a big spot for jacuzzi and nothing much further unless you going to camp at some spot in the forest.

The tracking lasted 2 hours in, with 2 camping spots, each may holds up to 12-14 person, a clearing is done for both side, the previous campers did a good job without much litter around there. Wild boar diggings is seens along the track, we cant cover much area as we just wear slippers and muddy place is somewhere i hate getting into with a pair of slippers.

Making of a small fire, with some tinder inside which takes a long time to process all those bits.

Burn baby burn, small fire catching up on the sligtly medium ones.

To supply some invisible bull of o2 to make sure the slightly medium catches the fire

Ta-Da!. the sticks catches fire, and now to cook some water.

A small flow of the river at the top of the falls.

Clear blue sky of gabai. It does look like something watching my ass everytime I am out

Oh look! This should be sufficient, slippers!

The top of the falls, where the current is not really strong, but real chilling water.

Small falls on the top of the falls, a view which you can spot from the bridge.

The falls from the bottom, looks bigger when you were there.

2nd shot, after the first one I almost slipped with my slippers

Random shot, just before i head home

After 4 hours of tracking we started heading back, since gabai is close to chongkak we started to head to chongkak after the visit to gabai. The journey seems long, and I am in need a teh o ice limau to keep myself awake. The walk in chongkak is tired, just wish there is a cab to flag just to reach the end of the trail where I camped last time.

By 2pm we started to head back, what I have in mind was teh o ice limau with a warm nasi lemak with someone there to rub my back and of course with my dearest lecturer who bang me kau kau everytime I was in his class.

Yo doc!. Guess wats on google docs.

Oh.! not to forget finding a topic for ibdaa...generating ideas seems hard.
